Phases one, two and three of the piece I’m currently working on. I’m excellent at starting paintings, proving to myself that I can pull off what I intend on expressing but not actually finishing them until I absolutely have to… Maybe at last minute before a potential buyer is coming to view it or just before I’m submitting for a show.
This, like others is at the point that I love it but, no it’s not finished. I’m determined though. I think I’m going to finish it.

I’m very proud of my newest piece! I’ve been focusing on painting a LOT! Absolutely loving the therapeutic process. This one is almost finished. I’ve got a few minor adjustments to make but I couldn’t wait to start sharing my progress with you.

Of all my floral shots, this photo from Stanley Park has been a source of pride for a couple of years. I finally decided to paint it despite a slight feeling of intimidation due to the complexity of detail in the petals. I’m three sessions into it and so glad I took a change on this one. So far I have pleasantly surprised myself. Scroll down for my current progress.
I’ve been experimenting with the fun process of applying complementary colours first, then adding the actual colours over top. This takes a bit of trial and error but allowing a bit of the original layer shine through adds real impact.
There’s more work to be done but I’m enjoying the progress. Here is end of session 3:

As you can see, the changes from one session to the next are dramatic. I find this process inspiring as I apply each layer. I hope to retain generous amounts of the original colours shining through in the final stages. Stay tuned as I will post more progress soon.

For a little something “much” different… I love to play with long exposures when I’m outdoors. This time, instead of the more common silky water long exposure, I incorporated lines and angles along side ghostly figures as people walk down the sea wall, and a perfect line of ships way out in the distance. I added some dramatic edits for a vintage feel and viola! A pretty cool shot. You think?

This last Mothers’ Day, a good friend and I (since we’re both moms) went out to lunch together as a little treat to ourselves. As luck would have it, in addition to a free meal, we received these lovely carnations for being moms. And since I have been wanting to experiment with white on white photography, this was the perfect flower for an upcoming blog post. I hope you like it.

As promised, I want to share some new photos with you guys. Until now, I mostly shared outdoor nature photography but I have been working on expanding my horizons and have been setting up shoots indoors using various types of lighting. Oh, how I’ve missed the WordPress community! Over the last few months, I have explored various social media and blogging platforms. In that time I gained many followers on Twitter, Google+, Facebook, a few on Blogspot and others, but I have not had the pleasure of experiencing a real sense of community since I stopped my WordPress posts.
